Arctic Adventure: My Journey to Polar Bears and Blue Whales in the Far North in 🇩🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇪🇦🇧🇷

After staying home for a while, I decided it was time to go on another adventure. So, before my next big trip, my father and I headed north. Our first destination was Oslo, the capital of Norway, where we spent two days. This vibrant and historical city offered us numerous sights and activities. We took a picturesque fjord cruise, which brought us closer to the stunning nature and majestic landscapes around Oslo. Afterwards, we explored the various city districts, each with its own charm. Occasionally, we watched football in cozy pubs, where we engaged in conversations with locals and learned more about life in Norway. The two days in Oslo were simply wonderful! We were especially impressed by the Munch Museum, with its world-famous artworks, and the diverse city quarters like Grünerløkka and Aker Brygge with their unique characters and lively streets.

After our stay in Oslo, we flew to Longyearbyen in Svalbard, one of the northernmost airports in the world, right in the Arctic. The view during the flight was breathtaking – endless white landscapes and the deep blue sea below. At the airport, we were warmly welcomed and a bus took us to our ship, the World Voyager. After settling into our cabins, we set out to explore the village of Longyearbyen. We browsed the charming souvenir shops, bought some handcrafted mementos, and enjoyed the impressive Arctic scenery. It was fascinating to see how people live and work in this remote region. In the evening, there was a welcome program on board, where we met our fellow travelers with whom we would spend the next nine days. The atmosphere was full of anticipation and excitement.

The next morning, we were already on the move. Our first excursion took us to Ny-Ålesund, a small but significant research village. Here, we learned a lot about the scientific work being done in this remote region. It was inspiring to see how researchers from around the world come together here to uncover the mysteries of the Arctic. The highlight of the day, however, was spotting our first polar bears. A mother with her cubs – an unforgettable sight I had always dreamed of. The joy on the ship was immense and this moment will remain unforgettable for many of us. Later in the day, we also saw walruses, which was another impressive experience. Seeing these huge, majestic animals in their natural habitat was simply overwhelming.

The following day, we continued our journey towards 81° north latitude, only 600 nautical miles from the North Pole. The vast ice fields stretching to the horizon were overwhelming. It was a unique feeling to be in the midst of this endless white expanse. With a Zodiac boat, we ventured out and could touch the ice up close. It was surreal to stand on the Arctic ice and experience the silence and beauty of this remote world. After the Zodiac tour, we had another highlight: a blue whale appeared in front of our ship – a rare and breathtaking encounter that rounded off the perfect day. Seeing this gigantic marine creature up close was indescribable and will remain in my memory forever.

Nachdem man ja nicht zu lange zuhause bleiben sollte, beschloss ich, vor meiner nächsten grossen Reise mit meinem Vater Richtung Norden zu fahren. Unser erstes Ziel war Oslo, die Hauptstadt Norwegens, wo wir zwei Tage verbrachten. Diese lebendige und historische Stadt bot uns zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten und Aktivitäten. Wir unternahmen eine malerische Fjordschifffahrt, die uns die beeindruckende Natur und die majestätischen Landschaften rund um Oslo näherbrachte. Danach erkundeten wir die verschiedenen Stadtviertel, die jeweils ihren eigenen Charme hatten. Gelegentlich schauten wir auch Fussball in gemütlichen Pubs an, wo wir mit Einheimischen ins Gespräch kamen und mehr über das Leben in Norwegen erfuhren. Die zwei Tage in Oslo waren einfach wunderbar! Besonders beeindruckten uns das Munch-Museum, mit seinen weltberühmten Kunstwerken, und die vielfältigen Stadtquartiere wie Grünerløkka und Aker Brygge mit ihren einzigartigen Charakteren und lebendigen Strassen.

Nach unserem Aufenthalt in Oslo flogen wir weiter nach Longyearbyen auf Svalbard, einem der nördlichsten Flughäfen der Welt, mitten in der Arktis. Die Aussicht während des Fluges war atemberaubend – die endlosen weissen Landschaften und das tiefblaue Meer darunter. Am Flughafen wurden wir herzlich empfangen und ein Bus brachte uns zu unserem Schiff, der World Voyager. Nachdem wir unsere Kabinen bezogen hatten, machten wir uns auf, das Dorf Longyearbyen zu erkunden. Wir stöberten in den charmanten Souvenirläden, kauften einige handgefertigte Erinnerungsstücke und genossen die beeindruckende arktische Landschaft. Es war faszinierend zu sehen, wie die Menschen in dieser abgelegenen Region leben und arbeiten. Am Abend gab es an Bord ein Willkommensprogramm, bei dem wir unsere Mitreisenden kennenlernten, mit denen wir die nächsten neun Tage verbringen würden. Die Atmosphäre war voller Vorfreude und Spannung.

Bereits am nächsten Morgen waren wir in voller Fahrt. Unser erster Ausflug führte uns nach Ny-Ålesund, einem kleinen, aber bedeutenden Forschungsdorf. Hier erfuhren wir viel über die wissenschaftliche Arbeit, die in dieser abgelegenen Region betrieben wird. Es war inspirierend zu sehen, wie Forscher aus aller Welt hier zusammenkommen, um die Geheimnisse der Arktis zu ergründen. Der Höhepunkt des Tages war jedoch die Sichtung unserer ersten Eisbären. Eine Mutter mit ihren Jungen – ein unvergesslicher Anblick, den ich mir immer erträumt hatte. Die Freude auf dem Schiff war riesig und dieser Moment bleibt für viele von uns unvergesslich. Später am Tag konnten wir auch noch Walrosse beobachten, was ebenfalls ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis war. Diese riesigen, majestätischen Tiere in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum zu sehen, war einfach überwältigend.

Am darauffolgenden Tag setzten wir unsere Reise in Richtung 81° nördlicher Breite fort, nur 600 Seemeilen vom Nordpol entfernt. Die riesigen Eisfelder, die sich bis zum Horizont erstreckten, waren überwältigend. Es war ein einmaliges Gefühl, mitten in dieser unendlichen weissen Weite zu sein. Mit einem Zodiac-Boot fuhren wir hinaus und konnten das Eis aus nächster Nähe berühren. Es war surreal, auf dem arktischen Eis zu stehen und die Stille und Schönheit dieser abgelegenen Welt zu erleben. Nach der Zodiaktour erlebten wir ein weiteres Highlight: Ein Blauwal tauchte vor unserem Schiff auf – eine seltene und atemberaubende Begegnung, die den perfekten Tag abrundete. Dieses gigantische Meerestier so nah zu sehen, war einfach unbeschreiblich und wird mir für immer in Erinnerung bleiben.

Después de estar en casa durante un tiempo, decidí que era hora de embarcarme en otra aventura. Así que, antes de mi próximo gran viaje, mi padre y yo nos dirigimos hacia el norte. Nuestro primer destino fue Oslo, la capital de Noruega, donde pasamos dos días. Esta vibrante e histórica ciudad nos ofreció numerosas atracciones y actividades. Hicimos un pintoresco crucero por el fiordo, que nos acercó a la impresionante naturaleza y a los majestuosos paisajes alrededor de Oslo. Después, exploramos los distintos distritos de la ciudad, cada uno con su propio encanto. De vez en cuando, veíamos fútbol en acogedores bares, donde conversábamos con los lugareños y aprendíamos más sobre la vida en Noruega. ¡Los dos días en Oslo fueron simplemente maravillosos! Nos impresionaron especialmente el Museo Munch, con sus obras de arte mundialmente famosas, y los diversos barrios de la ciudad como Grünerløkka y Aker Brygge, con sus caracteres únicos y calles animadas.

La vista durante el vuelo era impresionante: paisajes blancos infinitos y el profundo mar azul abajo. En el aeropuerto, nos recibieron calurosamente y un autobús nos llevó a nuestro barco, el World Voyager. Después de instalarnos en nuestras cabinas, salimos a explorar el pueblo de Longyearbyen. Recorrimos las encantadoras tiendas de souvenirs, compramos algunos recuerdos hechos a mano y disfrutamos del impresionante paisaje ártico. Fue fascinante ver cómo la gente vive y trabaja en esta región remota. Por la noche, hubo un programa de bienvenida a bordo, donde conocimos a nuestros compañeros de viaje con quienes pasaríamos los próximos nueve días. La atmósfera estaba llena de anticipación y emoción.

A la mañana siguiente, ya estábamos en marcha. Nuestra primera excursión nos llevó a Ny-Ålesund, un pequeño pero significativo pueblo de investigación. Aquí, aprendimos mucho sobre el trabajo científico que se realiza en esta región remota. Fue inspirador ver cómo investigadores de todo el mundo se reúnen aquí para desentrañar los misterios del Ártico. Sin embargo, el punto culminante del día fue ver nuestros primeros osos polares. Una madre con sus crías, una vista inolvidable que siempre había soñado. La alegría en el barco fue inmensa y este momento quedará inolvidable para muchos de nosotros. Más tarde, también vimos morsas, lo cual fue otra experiencia impresionante. Ver a estos enormes y majestuosos animales en su hábitat natural fue simplemente abrumador.

Al día siguiente, continuamos nuestro viaje hacia los 81° de latitud norte, a solo 600 millas náuticas del Polo Norte. Los vastos campos de hielo que se extendían hasta el horizonte eran abrumadores. Fue una sensación única estar en medio de esta interminable extensión blanca. Con un bote Zodiac, salimos y pudimos tocar el hielo de cerca. Fue surrealista estar sobre el hielo ártico y experimentar el silencio y la belleza de este mundo remoto. Después del tour en Zodiac, tuvimos otro momento destacado: un rorcual azul apareció frente a nuestro barco, un encuentro raro e impresionante que completó un día perfecto. Ver a esta gigantesca criatura marina de cerca fue indescriptible y permanecerá en mi memoria para siempre.

Fizemos um pitoresco cruzeiro pelo fiorde, que nos aproximou da impressionante natureza e das majestosas paisagens ao redor de Oslo. Depois, exploramos os diferentes bairros da cidade, cada um com seu próprio charme. De vez em quando, assistíamos futebol em pubs aconchegantes, onde conversávamos com os locais e aprendíamos mais sobre a vida na Noruega. Os dois dias em Oslo foram simplesmente maravilhosos! Foi fascinante ver como as pessoas vivem e trabalham nesta região remota. À noite, houve um programa de boas-vindas a bordo, onde conhecemos nossos companheiros de viagem com quem passaríamos os próximos nove dias. A atmosfera estava cheia de expectativa e emoção.

Na manhã seguinte, já estávamos em movimento. Nossa primeira excursão nos levou a Ny-Ålesund, uma pequena, mas significativa vila de pesquisa. Lá, aprendemos muito sobre o trabalho científico realizado nesta região remota. Foi inspirador ver como pesquisadores de todo o mundo se reúnem aqui para desvendar os mistérios do Ártico.
