Penguins, Sunsets & Camper Life D/S/E

After two intense weeks in Switzerland – filled with time spent with family, friends, and familiar moments – our adventure finally continued. The short break at home felt incredibly good. Seeing loved ones again, slowing down for a moment, and recharging before the next big chapter of our journey began. But shortly before our departure, things became quite uncertain once more: because of the war, we didn’t know for a long time whether our trip would even be possible. At one point, it almost looked as if we would have to completely change our route. The relief was therefore even greater when the ceasefire held and we were finally able to continue our travels as planned. After that, the excitement and anticipation were bigger than ever.

Our first stop took us to Qatar, more specifically to Doha. We had a one-day layover there and used the opportunity to explore the city a little. Doha immediately impressed me. Everything felt incredibly modern, luxurious, and almost surreal. The futuristic skyscrapers, perfectly developed roads, and enormous buildings instantly showed that Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world. We didn’t have much time for cultural discoveries, but as a transit destination, I can absolutely recommend Doha. Maybe one day I’ll return – hopefully for a little longer.

The following evening, we continued our journey to Melbourne and from there directly to Hobart in Tasmania. That’s where one of the most beautiful chapters of our trip began: for two weeks, we rented a large campervan and set off to drive around the entire island.

Tasmania completely amazed me. The nature there is simply incredible. We saw Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, and, as the absolute highlight, Little Blue Penguins – the smallest penguins in the world. That moment will stay unforgettable for me.

During our road trip, we hiked through stunning national parks, discovered beautiful beaches, and repeatedly found ourselves speechless in front of breathtaking landscapes. What I will remember most, though, are the encounters with the locals. The people were incredibly open, warm-hearted, and always happy to have a conversation. Of course, amazing food was also part of the experience, and this combination made our time there truly perfect.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Tasmania to everyone. The island combines wild nature with modern infrastructure, excellent roads, and countless places where you simply want to stop and enjoy the view. Two weeks were wonderful, but personally, I would even recommend staying for three weeks. That way, you have the chance to experience certain places more deeply and fully embrace the island’s unique calmness.

After Tasmania, we flew to Sydney, where we spent four nights in a beautiful hotel. Sydney is one of those cities you simply have to experience at least once. We walked through green parks, visited the famous Bondi Beach, and of course stood in front of the world-famous Opera House. We also went on several boat trips, enjoyed shopping, and tried many fantastic restaurants.

Sydney also had a lot to offer culturally. We visited museums, drove to different viewpoints to watch the sunsets, and repeatedly enjoyed the incredible skyline. One place I can especially recommend is the zoo – not only because of the animals, but mainly because of the breathtaking view over the city and the harbour.

Australia was an unforgettable experience for us. My mum and I have become a truly well-coordinated team by now. Of course, life in a campervan is not always easy, but somehow that’s part of the adventure. Most importantly, this was already our third camper trip together – and that’s exactly what makes these journeys so special. Creating memories together, discovering new places, and spending so much quality time with family means a lot to me.

Australia will definitely not be the last destination on my travel list. This enormous country has so much more to offer that you would probably need six to eight months to truly explore it all. The big question is whether I’ll ever take that much time for Australia someday. But who knows – maybe the next adventure will lead me right back there again.

Nach zwei intensiven Wochen in der Schweiz – voller Zeit mit Familie, Freunden und vertrauten Momenten – ging unser Abenteuer endlich weiter. Die kurze Pause zuhause tat unglaublich gut. Menschen wiedersehen, zur Ruhe kommen und neue Energie tanken, bevor das nächste grosse Kapitel unserer Reise begann. Doch kurz vor der Abreise wurde es nochmals richtig spannend: Wegen des Krieges wussten wir lange nicht, ob unsere Reise überhaupt stattfinden konnte. Zeitweise sah es sogar so aus, als müssten wir unsere gesamte Route ändern. Umso grösser war die Erleichterung, als der Waffenstillstand hielt und wir schliesslich doch losreisen konnten. Danach war die Vorfreude natürlich riesig.

Unser erster Stopp führte uns nach Qatar, genauer gesagt nach Doha. Dort hatten wir einen Tag Aufenthalt und nutzten die Gelegenheit, die Stadt etwas zu erkunden. Doha hat mich sofort beeindruckt. Alles wirkte unglaublich modern, luxuriös und fast ein wenig surreal. Die futuristischen Wolkenkratzer, perfekt ausgebauten Strassen und riesigen Gebäude zeigten sofort, dass Qatar zu den reichsten Ländern der Welt gehört. Für kulturelle Entdeckungen blieb zwar nicht viel Zeit, doch als Zwischenstopp kann ich Doha absolut empfehlen. Vielleicht zieht es mich irgendwann nochmals dorthin – dann hoffentlich für länger.

Am nächsten Abend ging unsere Reise weiter nach Melbourne und von dort direkt nach Hobart in Tasmanien. Dort startete eines der schönsten Kapitel unserer Reise: Für zwei Wochen mieteten wir einen grossen Camper und machten uns auf den Weg, einmal rund um die Insel zu fahren.

Tasmanien hat mich komplett begeistert. Die Natur dort ist schlicht unglaublich. Wir begegneten Tasmanischen Teufeln, sahen Kängurus und erlebten als absolutes Highlight Little Blue Penguins – die kleinsten Pinguine der Welt. Dieser Moment bleibt für mich unvergesslich.

Während unseres Roadtrips wanderten wir durch beeindruckende Nationalparks, entdeckten traumhafte Strände und standen immer wieder sprachlos vor den wunderschönen Landschaften. Besonders in Erinnerung bleiben mir aber auch die Begegnungen mit den Einheimischen. Die Menschen waren unglaublich offen, herzlich und immer für ein Gespräch zu haben. Natürlich kam auch das gute Essen nicht zu kurz, und genau diese Mischung machte die Zeit für uns perfekt.

Tasmanien kann ich wirklich jedem ans Herz legen. Die Insel verbindet wilde Natur mit moderner Infrastruktur, sehr guten Strassen und unzähligen Orten, an denen man am liebsten einfach anhalten und die Aussicht geniessen möchte. Zwei Wochen waren wunderschön, persönlich würde ich aber sogar drei Wochen empfehlen. So hat man die Möglichkeit, einzelne Orte noch intensiver zu erleben und die besondere Ruhe der Insel richtig auf sich wirken zu lassen.

Nach Tasmanien ging es mit dem Flugzeug weiter nach Sydney. Dort verbrachten wir vier Nächte in einem wunderschönen Hotel. Sydney ist eine Stadt, die man einfach erlebt haben muss. Wir spazierten durch grüne Parks, besuchten den berühmten Bondi Beach und standen natürlich auch vor der weltbekannten Oper. Dazu kamen mehrere Bootsfahrten, Shoppingtouren und viele fantastische Restaurants.

Auch kulturell hatte Sydney viel zu bieten. Wir besuchten Museen, fuhren auf verschiedene Aussichtspunkte, um die Sonnenuntergänge zu beobachten, und genossen immer wieder den Blick auf die beeindruckende Skyline. Besonders empfehlen kann ich den Zoo – nicht nur wegen der Tiere, sondern vor allem wegen der einmaligen Aussicht auf die Stadt und den Hafen.

Australien war für uns eine unvergessliche Zeit. Meine Mama und ich sind inzwischen ein richtig eingespieltes Team geworden. Natürlich ist das Leben im Camper nicht immer einfach, aber genau das gehört irgendwie dazu. Vor allem war es bereits unser drittes gemeinsames Camper-Abenteuer – und genau diese gemeinsamen Reisen machen alles so besonders. Zusammen Erinnerungen zu sammeln, neue Orte zu entdecken und so viel Zeit miteinander zu verbringen, bedeutet mir unglaublich viel.

Australien wird definitiv nicht das letzte Mal auf meiner Reiseliste stehen. Dieses riesige Land h

at noch so viel mehr zu bieten, dass man wahrscheinlich sechs bis acht Monate bräuchte, um wirklich alles zu entdecken. Die grosse Frage bleibt nur, ob ich mir irgendwann einmal so viel Zeit dafür nehmen werde. Aber wer weiss – vielleicht führt mich das nächste Abenteuer ja wieder genau dorthin.

Después de dos intensas semanas en Suiza — llenas de tiempo con la familia, amigos y momentos familiares — nuestra aventura finalmente continuó. La pequeña pausa en casa nos hizo muchísimo bien. Volver a ver a nuestros seres queridos, desconectar un poco y recargar energías antes de comenzar el próximo gran capítulo de nuestro viaje. Sin embargo, poco antes de partir, todo volvió a ponerse incierto: debido a la guerra, durante mucho tiempo no supimos si nuestro viaje realmente podría realizarse. Por momentos parecía incluso que tendríamos que cambiar completamente nuestra ruta. Por eso, el alivio fue aún mayor cuando el alto el fuego se mantuvo y finalmente pudimos continuar con nuestros planes. Después de eso, la emoción y las ganas de viajar eran más grandes que nunca.

Nuestra primera parada fue Qatar, más precisamente Doha. Teníamos un día de escala allí y aprovechamos la oportunidad para explorar un poco la ciudad. Doha me impresionó desde el primer momento. Todo parecía increíblemente moderno, lujoso y casi surrealista. Los rascacielos futuristas, las carreteras perfectamente construidas y los enormes edificios demostraban inmediatamente que Qatar es uno de los países más ricos del mundo. Aunque no tuvimos mucho tiempo para descubrir la cultura, definitivamente puedo recomendar Doha como destino de tránsito. Quizás algún día vuelva — y ojalá por más tiempo.

La noche siguiente continuamos nuestro viaje hacia Melbourne y desde allí directamente a Hobart, en Tasmania. Allí comenzó una de las etapas más bonitas de nuestro viaje: alquilamos una gran camper durante dos semanas y nos lanzamos a recorrer toda la isla.

Tasmania me fascinó por completo. La naturaleza allí es simplemente increíble. Vimos demonios de Tasmania, canguros y, como momento más especial de todos, Little Blue Penguins, los pingüinos más pequeños del mundo. Ese instante será inolvidable para mí.

Durante nuestro roadtrip hicimos muchas caminatas por parques nacionales impresionantes, descubrimos playas paradisíacas y nos quedamos sin palabras una y otra vez frente a paisajes espectaculares. Pero lo que más recordaré serán también los encuentros con la gente local. Las personas eran increíblemente abiertas, amables y siempre dispuestas a conversar. Y, por supuesto, tampoco faltó la buena comida. Esa combinación hizo que nuestra experiencia fuera perfecta.

Puedo recomendar Tasmania de todo corazón. La isla combina naturaleza salvaje con infraestructura moderna, carreteras excelentes y muchísimos lugares donde simplemente quieres detenerte y disfrutar de las vistas. Dos semanas fueron maravillosas, aunque personalmente recomendaría incluso tres semanas. Así se puede disfrutar cada lugar con más calma y vivir la tranquilidad especial de la isla de una forma aún más intensa.

Después de Tasmania volamos a Sydney, donde pasamos cuatro noches en un hotel precioso. Sydney es una ciudad que simplemente hay que vivir al menos una vez. Caminamos por parques verdes, visitamos la famosa Bondi Beach y, por supuesto, estuvimos frente a la mundialmente famosa Ópera de Sydney. Además, hicimos varios paseos en barco, fuimos de compras y probamos muchos restaurantes increíbles.

Sydney también tenía muchísimo que ofrecer culturalmente. Visitamos museos, subimos a distintos miradores para ver los atardeceres y disfrutamos constantemente de la impresionante vista del skyline. Un lugar que recomiendo especialmente es el zoológico — no solo por los animales, sino sobre todo por la vista espectacular de la ciudad y el puerto.

Australia fue una experiencia inolvidable para nosotros. Mi mamá y yo ya somos un equipo perfectamente coordinado. Claro que la vida en una camper no siempre es fácil, pero justamente eso también forma parte de la aventura. Además, este ya fue nuestro tercer viaje juntas en camper, y eso es exactamente lo que hace estos viajes tan especiales. Crear recuerdos juntas, descubrir nuevos lugares y compartir tanto tiempo en familia significa muchísimo para mí.

Australia definitivamente volverá a estar en mi lista de viajes. Este enorme país tiene muchísimo más por ofrecer, y probablemente se necesitarían entre seis y ocho meses para descubrirlo realmente todo. La gran pregunta es si algún día me tomaré tanto tiempo para recorrer Australia. Pero quién sabe… quizás la próxima aventura vuelva a llevarme exactamente allí.
