After New Year's Eve, me, Gioia and Gianni went on to Salento. We spent three nights there. The first day we did a lot, since we had arrived only in the evening. The next morning we got up early and, after a little snack, we set off in the off-road vehicles in the direction of Cocoa. This is the valley with the world's largest palm trees. They reach up to 30 meters high. There we did a five hour hike. At the beginning we went four kilometers uphill and then we went along the river towards the starting point. I can recommend this hike to everyone. The palm trees not only look huge on the pictures, when you stand under them, you realize how big they really are. At first they don't fit into the nature picture either, but with time you get used to the sight and it gives the place a completely different image. After the hike we were all very tired. We went back to the village and there we met Norma again, with whom I had made the catamaran crossing. We had already met in Medellin and as luck would have it, she was also just in Salento with her friends. The next morning our groups went on a coffee tour together. There, the whole process of coffee production was explained to us. It was very interesting. Now I know what all happens and how long the process really takes until the coffee is in front of me. After the coffee tour, we went to eat together and then we played a local game. As a finale, we went to a bar for a drink. There we said goodbye to the other group because we would continue our trip the next day, towards Neiva. For us it started early the next day. We were supposed to be on the bus for only six hours, but the traffic didn't cooperate, so the trip to Neiva took five hours longer. When we arrived, we checked into our hotel and fell asleep very quickly. The next day was the tour to the Tatacoa Desert. We had 1.5 hours from Neiva to get to the red desert. It was the first time I was in a desert. I was impressed. We did a two-hour hike in burning heat. The landscape was beautiful. After beautiful hours in the desert, I made my way back towards Neiva.
Tomorrow I leave for Bogota for three nights. blog follows.
