We returned to Ushuaia, where I had already been a year ago. But this time, it would be something truly special, as I would be taking this 22-day journey with my parents, my mom, and my dad. It felt almost surreal to show them this world that has become so familiar to me.
We were a total of 60 passengers on board an Argentine ship, which had a great advantage for us: I could speak Spanish, and the Argentine cuisine made us feel at home – lots of meat, and I mean *a lot* of meat… The atmosphere on board was relaxed and friendly, and we quickly felt comfortable.
There was already a surprise at check-in: we got an upgrade and were given a suite! This unexpected luxury was the perfect start. After settling in, we began meeting our fellow travelers – people from all over the world, all united by the adventure that lay ahead.
Our first stop was the Falkland Islands, where we would spend two days. On the first day, we made a landing at a place I already knew from last year. It was such a joy to experience this special region again, but this time through my parents' eyes. We visited a colony of rockhopper penguins and albatrosses, a beautiful patch of earth that fascinated us all. Seeing how my parents were awed by these animals and the rugged, wild nature was an unforgettable moment.
On the second day, we visited Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands. We explored the small town, with its colorful houses and relaxed, charming atmosphere. For spotting Magellanic penguins, we had arranged a private tour that took us to a secluded, picturesque beach. The weather was perfect, and the day flew by. It was an experience we would all carry home in our hearts.
In the evening, we left the Falkland Islands and set course for South Georgia – the next big adventure, which I’ll tell you about in the next blog.
